What does an event contractor do?

  • Contractors partnering with Toon Goons Art GC are provided paid opportunities to deliver live art entertainment and creative event activations across Ontario - including weddings, private celebrations, brand activations, and corporate functions.
  • We represent a curated roster of specialized talent across multiple disciplines: Caricature Artists, Henna Artists, Face & Body Painters, Airbrush Apparel Artists, Calligraphers & Engravers, and Photo Booth Attendants.
  • Contractors operate with full independence and may choose to accept or decline gig opportunities at their discretion.

What equipment and materials do contractors provide?

  • Full Professional Setup: Contractors are expected to supply, maintain, and bring all equipment, professional tools, hardware, and consumable materials required to perform their service safely and independently (e.g., easels, paper, and markers; cosmetic-grade face paint; 100% natural henna; airbrush textile systems; micro-motor engraving tools; or complete photo booth setups).
  • Unbranded / White-Label Requirement: To maintain the visual integrity of client events, all tools, equipment, backdrops, banners, easels, signage, digital displays, and print templates must remain completely unbranded with zero personal or third-party company logos.
  • Health & Safety Compliance: All products applied to skin or apparel must be non-toxic, safe, and compliant with Health Canada regulations. All electrical lines, hardware, and structural setups must be safely secured and taped flush to prevent tripping or electrical hazards.
  • Venue Provisions: Event hosts provide contractors with lighting, general protection from the elements, and necessary tables or seating where agreed upon.

How much do contractors make?

  • Hourly & Flat Payouts: Contractor pay typically starts at $100+ CAD per hour based on experience, medium, and assignment scope (all live event bookings have a 2-hour minimum). Specialized activations (such as photo booths) may be offered at pre-agreed flat event rates.
  • Extended Coverage: If a host requests additional time on-site, extended service is compensated at 1.5x your agreed base hourly rate (pre-approval required).
  • Travel Allowances: Additional compensation is available for bookings requiring extensive travel. All travel bonuses are determined and communicated before you accept the assignment.
  • Gratuities: Any tips or gratuities willingly provided by hosts or attendees remain 100% your property.
  • Detailed Rate Breakdown: View our complete Contractor Rate Sheet & Service Standards for discipline-specific payouts, package structures, and benchmarks.
